Mêne, Pierre-Jules (1810-1879); an Animalier School bronze depicting the Arabian stallion Djinn; the original was displayed at the Salon in Paris in 1849; this 19th Century casting exhibits the high quality surface detail of musculature, bone structure, and veinage that Mêne was so famous for; the tail retains a freer flowing, pierced form that was lost in later castings; enjoys an orignal dry patina; signed on base; no foundry mark; dimensions: 11 5/8: tall x 16 1/2″ length overall x 5 1/4″ deep
