a signed Federal inlaid mahogany games table; signed "Nathan Fisk(e)" on the underside of the top in large chalk script; Fiske was the youngest child of Samuel Fiske (1769-1797), a well known Boston cabinetmaker who worked with Stephen Badlam; Nathan Fiske was born on December 6, 1779 and married Anna L. Mason; they lived in East Cambridge, Massachusetts; the table is made of exceptionally dense, well figured woods including a "plum pudding" mahogany fly-leaf, birch apron veneers, and inlaid rosewood apron panels and top banding; old repair to left stationary leg/apron joint; dimensions: 29 1/2" tall x 35 1/4" wide x 17 1/4" deep (scroll down for details)
