a rare set of six carved mahogany side chairs; all in excellent, sound condition with no breaks to legs and only minor splat and/or crest rail repairs to some; 1/2″ front foot shims compensate for 19th Century Victorian castors; tulip poplar rails and corner braces; a nearly identical example can be found in Southern Furniture 1680-1830 (Hurst & Prown), p.124, figure 31; a related set of eleven Baltimore side chairs sold at Christie’s on May 23, 2006 (sale 1663); dimensions: 21″ wide @ front rail x 38 1/4″ tall @ crest rail
